Action Packed Finale to 2006 Season Competition Report 28th October 2006 Competitive partnerships of all shapes and sizes gathered at Grange Farm Wittering for the final JumpCross competition of the season on Saturday 28 th October. The course had been reversed since the last competition in September. This meant there were quite a few downhill fences which proved influential in the final scorings. The impressive turn-out of 100 competitors included a fiercely competitive Pony Club team event where teams from the Fitzwilliam and Burghley battled to gain the top slot. After some very cool and even rounds, the Burghley Spitfires claimed the top honour from the Fitzwilliam Foxes. It is hoped that these two Pony Clubs spread the word about this exciting addition to their competitive calendar and that more clubs are tempted to compete. In the mini section of the Pony Club challenge, the Fitzwilliam had their own inter club battle with Christina Faulkner on Brummy claiming first place. The Intro competition saw an experienced JumpCross partnership in Maddison Colbert and Firefox claiming their second win of the season from Stephanie Reynolds and Ringwood Abi. Sue Beamish and Eggbutt kept up Grange Farm honours by taking third place in their second appearance in the competition. The traditional format of the Group 3 Team competition saw The Wishful Thinkers, Dawn Ross and Cate Croll triumph over the Helpston Ladies, Caroline Witham-Grange and Alison Cooke. Danielle Jackson & Pippa Wilson’s Swift Spirit signed off their season with a convincing win in the Group 3 Senior. JumpCross Secretary, Allison Lowther partnered Regal Jester to second place ahead of Caroline Witham-Grange riding Abija in third. Lucy Ferguson riding her mum’s Henry Hill II claimed the Junior Group 3 ahead of budding jockey, Alex Chadwick on his sister’s mare Ebony. The final Group 2 competition saw the closest finale with Sally Wagstaff & Gulliver narrowly beating Amy Meadows & Red into second place. Amy Wells claimed victory in the Junior Group 2 ahead of her only rival, Iona Fulton. And so, the season came to an end… but not quite. There is still the opportunity to get in some fine-tuning. There are a limited number of places left on the JumpCross training session with leading event riders, Jeanette Brakewell, Book Staples & Julian Trevor-Roper on 11 th November. Back to Top> |
