Sally & Gulliver leap to the top of the league point’s tables..
Sally Wagstaff and Gulliver continued their consistent form on Saturday 4th July at Grange Farm by winning both the Senior classes even with a slight diversion in the Group 2 contest! and therefore now head both the Senior Group 3 and Group 2 League Points tables after three competitions.
A sunny morning welcomed the competitors who were to tackle the new course designed for the recent Eventers JumpCross Challenge. This featured a new water crossing at fences 8 and 9 and two joker fences at the end of the course.
Kerry Dean and Vince triumphed in the highly competitive Intro section by jumping a clear round and clearing both jokers ahead of Brogan Cranfield riding Lawson, who enjoyed a confidence boosting round following a bruising fall at the last competition. Third place went to Michael Hughes and Emerald Quest.
The junior Group 3 section dominated by Pony Club members, saw a victory for Vincent Brown-Keech riding Harry ahead of Holly Steels and Pip. In third place was Jake Webb and Pete.
The senior Group 3 section showed the benefits of clean fluent jumping with the top two places filled by horse and rider combinations not only jumping clear rounds but also taking 80 penalties off their score by jumping both jokers. Sally Wagstaff and Gulliver securing the victory over Lauren Dolby and Red with a faster time. Paul Brown riding UFO claimed 3rd place.
And so to Group 2 – a smaller field tackled the higher fences with Sally Wagstaff and Gulliver claiming the top slot ahead of Geoff Bridges and April in 2nd and Rebecca Hempstead riding Monty in 3rd.
A short break from competition now at Grange Farm with Saturday 26th September the next scheduled date.
