Priory Court Farm Training Day 22nd April 2007

Priory Court Farm, Polegate held its first JumpCross training day of the season in April.

Training Days, with a qualified, JumpCross accredited instructor provide an opportunity to gain more knowledge of the sport including rules and scoring whilst the ‘Competition Training Days’ enable the rider to combine the above with an optional competition over a section of the course against the clock with rosettes being awarded at the end.

The Competition Training Day on 22 nd April 2007 was very successful and good fun with both the weather and ground conditions being perfect. The riders used the skills they learnt during the training session. It was the first time at JumpCross for some of the riders and some were very nervous at the start of the day, however after the training session they were keen to take part in the competition.

We had three Intro groups throughout the day. One training session, and two including the competition.

Results:
Group 1:

1 st Aimee Mockett on Rosie
2 nd Charlie Buss on Winston
3 rd Leah Hiller on Amber Lady

Group 2:

1 st Lee Oswin on Alfie
2 nd Natasha Barker on Aslan.

The site at Priory Court Farm in Polegate, like many other JumpCross courses is designed to provide horse & rider with the experience of cross country without having to worry about the dangers surrounding solid fences making it safer for horse and rider. The courses are designed to challenge all levels and abilities from the seasoned competitor to the novice or nervous rider and combine the thrill of cross-country whilst demanding the skill and accuracy of show-jumping and give confidence to both horse and rider. The course is especially useful for young horses enabling them to have some experience at a height they feel comfortable at without the danger of overfacing them. Each fence is adjustable and the rider can be sure they can attempt each fence at the appropriate height until both horse and rider are confidently jumping each obstacle in a safe and accurate way.
