Scottish JumpCross Championships A Great Success
THE first ever Scottish JumpCross Championships were held at Greenfields of Avondale and were a huge success, with many individuals and teams battling it out to be crowned Scottish Champions.
The superb site set in the heart of the Lanarkshire countryside, played host to one of the most eagerly anticipated competitions on the JumpCross calendar.
The day started with the Mini competition, open to riders of any age over the 1ft6 to 2ft0 course. Andrew King riding Southburn Coppersocks put in a good round to take the Scottish Mini JumpCross title.
Runner up prize went to Kirsty McCulloch on Hullabaloo and third prize to Trigger and Carly McKnight.
Netherburn based Jennifer King and Southburn Abbey put in an impressive performance to be crowned Scottish Intro JumpCross champions, whilst Heather Adam and Muffin from Hamilton took second place honours.
Neil Wivell and Topaz carried out a skilful round over the 2ft9 course to head the Scottish Group 3 JumpCross title, with Carol McGrath and Troy finishing in second place.
The Team event was one of the most popular classes of the day and saw a great turn out.
The Majestic Mares enjoyed victory in the Team Event with all members putting in brilliant rounds. The winning team consisted of, Hannah Quinn, Sarah Inglis, Claire Inglis and Susan Taylor.
Runner Up prizes were awarded to The Good, The Bad, and The Downright Ugly, whilst The 4 Non Blondes finished in third position.
Keen to recognise outstanding performances the team at Greenfields of Avondale awarded individual prizes to Jennifer King from Netherburn riding Southburn Abbey for her performance as Best Junior rider.
Whilst Best Senior Rider award was given to Heather Adam and Mufin from Hamilton, and Best Veteran Rider was awarded to Ann Cook riding Ariki from Bothwell.
The day was a great success and offered spectators and competitors alike a competition with the grandeur and atmosphere of a championship event.
