Great Support for JumpCross

Press Release

Good weather and ground conditions made way for a constructive days training at Strathearn Eventing in Methven, Perth.

Both regular JumpCross attendants and first timers turned out in force to take part in the day of training and a mini competition at the end of the session.

The day started with the 40 participants taken and split into groups depending on their experience.

Sarah Houlden of Strathearn Eventing said: “I like to divide everyone up so that we have groups of people who are at the same level, I don’t like anyone to feel like they are being held back or pushed more than they are happy with.”

The day started with a course walk and an insight into how JumpCross works and what is involved in riding the course. All riders then mounted to take part in the helpful training sessions.

At the Strathearn Training Days special instruction is given on how to ride combinations such as rail-ditch-rails (coffins) and how to ride water fences and narrow jumps.

Many people attended the training day and found it a great help and a confidence booster.

To end the day a mini competition was held so that competitors could put into practice what they had learnt over the days training.

Sarah said: “The training days are great to build confidence for both horse and rider, experienced people with young horses attend to broaden their horse’s education and young riders with experienced horses attend to build their confidence and course experience.”
