September 27th Competition Report – Strathearn Eventing September ended with an excellent day of Jumpcross on Sunday 27th. The course was longer than usual due to the continued spell of dry weather allowing us to use the lower land. Nineteen fences including a treble, two water crossings and ditches sorted out the winners. The training sessions throughout the summer proved invaluable to many riders building on their confidence to tackle their first competition. Patsi Kenton rode Banuzzi, a wonderful schoolmaster in the 2’9 and completed her first competition. Well done to this partnership for their dedicated training as Patsi was very apprehensive in the spring and only jumped 2’3, what an improvement. Jumpcross encourages and rewards many horses and riders with confidence and it is a pleasure to see so many happy faces finishing the course. Seasoned campaigner “Bertie” and Alice Craven had their first win at a larger height of 2’9. Local rider Morgan Foster rode a well judged round to win the 2’6. Annabel Wilson took time away from her busy games programme to take the first two positions in the 2’3. Derek Butcher and team from Knockhill Racing circuit supported the day and gave their young horses some education before the hunter trial season begins. Due to demand we have added an extra date on 25th October – report next issue. |
