A Tribute to Vicky Boyce

Vicky Boyce, a great competitor and supporter of JumpCross who will be sadly missed.

As many of you will know and maybe a few will not, we recently experienced a very sad loss of a great supporter of JumpCross with the passing of Vicky Boyce at the tender age of 36.

Vicky was well known at The Grange as not only a competitor but taught many as an instructor when The Grange was a riding school. Vicky was also one of the first JumpCross trainers when JumpCross started about five years ago. At JumpCross competitions, often partnered by her sponsor, Ray Chambers, Vicky was consistently challenging for the prizes and apart from her cheery smile, will be remembered by a lot of JumpCross competitors for a famous head first dive into the lake! I think we gave her 5.9 for style that day. Fortunately, she was unhurt and came up smiling as she always did in the face of adversity – if a little wet!

She never shirked a challenge and some of her horses were not the easiest to ride but she did so with her usual optimism.

Another of Vicki’s passions was rescuing horses that were difficult or needed retraining and re-homing. The trouble was that once they arrived they rarely left to the extent that at the last count there were 35 or thereabouts.

Ever present beside Vicky for the last couple of years was her partner Neil who she described as “My rock”. Our thoughts and sympathy go to him and Vicky’s family.

Vicky will be sorely missed, but always remembered by everybody at Grange Farm and especially at JumpCross.
