Grange Farm competition report 16 September
Stephanie & Conker score JumpCross Double
Even though Stephanie says that they are “learning together”, Conker and his jockey seem to be making excellent progress with a double of first places in the Intro and Group 3 sections at the JumpCross competition held at Grange Farm, Wittering on Saturday 16 September 2006.
The revised course incorporating a hilly section with carefully sited fences did cause some problems in the Intro section, but a clear and accurate round plus the joker bonus put Stephanie & Conker in an unbeatable position, holding off the challenge of Stephi Reynolds & Ringwood Abi who had to settle for second place. Third place went to Charlotte Adams & Ptolomy, who was enjoying his first JumpCross experience.
Four partnerships tackled the Mini section for the Pony Club, resulting in a win for Alexandra Rawlin and Pegasus.
A competitive Junior Group 3 section was headed by the “flying” partnership of Rhian McPhail and Velvet who were competing in their first JumpCross competition. Emily Lumb rode Rory into second ahead of Alex Chadwick & Ebony.
Stephanie & Conker continued their winning form in the Group 3 Senior Section. Riding first, a clear jumping round plus a Joker Bonus proved decisive. Melissa Stoner & UFO were the nearest competitors, claiming second place ahead of Vanessa Lowther & Just Guest House, who was tackling JumpCross for the first time, in third.
The ever popular Pony Club Group 3 provided the opportunity for team and individual success. A head-to-head between teams from the Burghley & Fitzwilliam Pony Clubs resulted an in clean sweep for the Fitzwilliam with the Beavers claiming the victory ahead of the Hares and Foxes.
Individually, Jessica Gulland and Millie took top honours ahead of Verity Hart with Georgie Fenn in third.
In the final section of the day, a small yet competitive field undertook the challenge of the course and its heightened fences in the Senior Group 2. With single fence faults proving decisive for second & third places, Danielle Jackson and Rookie could not be beaten with their clear round and joker bonus. Second place was claimed by Melissa Stoner & UFO ahead of William De Gale & Marcos in third.
