Anniversary JumpCross At Broadhalls Farm


The glorious weather on Bank Holiday Monday made for a great JumpCross day at the impressive Broadhalls Farm, near Newton Abbot in Devon.

A year on from the launch of JumpCross at Broadhalls Farm, the sport has developed into a great success with riders from the South East fully embracing it.

The competition held on May 5th was no exception, with five JumpCross classes very well attended.

For many it was there first time riding a JumpCross course, and competitor’s enjoyed the challenge of a true cross-country discipline and felt confident in jumping fences that were not solid or fixed.

With JumpCross, there are less of the dangers that are associated with jumping fixed fences– but it still requires focus, skill and balance in order to jump the obstacles cleanly and safely.

Ten year-old Adam Stainton on Pixie took top honours in the 1’6” section, with Hannah Whiteley and Tommy taking runner up spot. This proved a good warm up for the pair who also finished second in the 2’2” section, where Olivia Thornton and Bunbury Samuel but in an impressive round to take first prize.

In the 2’3” section Kerry Warren-Blackwell and her mare Bella proved untouchable to take top spot, with Tiffany Parrot and Jack claiming second place.

Kim Stanton on Polly rode to victory later in the day to win the 2’6”class with Jenny Coy finishing second.

The main event of the day was the JumpCross relay where each member of the started at different points on the JumpCross course, the first home in the safest way with the least amount of penalties won.

The Saturday Night Cheese Muffins proved victorious, and included Adam Stainton, Tiffany Parrot and Kim Stanton.

The day was a huge success with thanks to all who took part, all helpers and JR’s mobile catering.
