Equissage Celebrity JumpCross Challenge A Great
Success
Press Release 18th April 2006
A few wet showers did not stop the fun at this year’s Equissage
Celebrity JumpCross Challenge.
The competition at Grange Farm, Wittering was a huge success, with many
teams battling it out for the prizes in the Open and Novice classes.
Competitors were put into teams of five and were captained by a leading
event rider including; Brooke Staples, Mark and Tanya Kyle, Julia Crowson,
Julian Trevor Roper and Tiny Clapham.
The day started with each team being taken on a course walk by their celebrity
event rider, and advised on how to ride the JumpCross
fences. Valuable advice and team tactics were given to all team members.
After each JumpCross round all team members
including their captains, enjoyed the hilarious egg catapulting competition.
Everybody was given equipment to build an egg catapult machine. It was
noted from the sidelines that all the event riders became very involved
and competitive, and a certain amount of sabotage from some celebrity
event riders was evident!
In the novice class Julia Crowson’s team were crowned champions,
they finished on a score of 909.58 penalties. Team tactics aided their
victory as all riders attempted the joker fence, therefore lowering the
teams’ score leading to their victory. The team included, Danielle
Jackson, Dawn Ross, Kevin Smith, Kate Croll and Lauren Dolby.
Runner up rosettes were awarded to Julian Trevor Roper’s team and
third place was taken by Brooke Staples team.
An upright at the bottom of a hill with a related distance to a stream
crossing caught a lot of riders out in the Open class.
Brooke Staples’ Team enjoyed victory in this section and all members
once again attempted the Joker fence finishing on a score of 1060.85 points.
The winning team was, Alice Johnson, Sally Wagstaff, Ben Scott, Danielle
Jackson and Malcolm Massey.
With Danielle Jackson and Rookie, a regular at the Grange Farm JumpCross,
putting in the fastest rounds.
Tanya Kyle’s team finished in second place and Julia Crowson’s
team finished third.
Throughout the day the action continued on the bouncy castle and bucking
bronco.
Tanya Mutch triumphed in the Bucking Bronco Competition staying on for
an amazing 127 seconds, winning an Equissage Hand Unit.
Fund raising also took place throughout the day, with the Tombola raising
a whopping £900 for the RDA and many more private donations were
added to increase the amount to well over £1500.
This will be split between, RDA and The Weston Spirit.
The Crown Pin Foundation is run by Niagra Health Care and each year staff
in the various company divisions all raise money for the chosen charities.
This year the Crown Pin Foundation chose the Weston Spirit as the charity
to raise funds for.
The Weston Spirit was founded by Falklands hero Simon Weston to develop
projects to help young people with educational needs, rehabilitation and
to provide them with a direction in life to help them move on from their
current situation.
