Lincoln JumpCross Eventer's Challenge A Huge Success

TOP riders from all over the country converged on Grange Farm, Wittering to compete in this year’s Lincoln JumpCross Eventer’s Challenge.

With a £2,500 donated by Lincoln Equine Products, first prize at stake and good money down the line, the field included eventing stars Mark Todd, Oliver Townend, Piggy French and Clayton and Lucinda Fredericks.

In a close run competition, Mark Kyle and the talented grey, 11-year-old, Step In Time ran out the winners over Robin Dunlop’s well designed track that featured water crossings, combinations and a joker fence allowing riders to improve their score at the very end of the round.

Said Mark: “It was a great competition and a wonderful day, having finished third last year it was good to take home first place and the excellent prize money.”

Riders took part in a two round competition, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with the scores from both rounds added together to find the winners.

The day provided a first for Mark Todd and NZB Mouse who were both trying JumpCross for the first time and finished in third place.

“I really enjoyed JumpCross, the course was well designed and I brought a horse that is a good jumper, the whole day and the competition was a lot of fun,” said Mark.

JumpCross founder Robin Dunlop added: “The Lincoln JumpCross Eventer’s Challenge is now well established in the calendar. It was a great day, with top class competition and we are very grateful for the support from Lincoln.”

Throughout the day money was raised for the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund and thanks to a well supported raffle and auction, £1350 was raised.

Great prizes included a lesson with Piggy French, two tickets to Burghley with a course walk from last year’s JumpCross Eventer’s Challenge winner Angus Smales and a yard visit to Oliver Townend’s stables in Shropshire.
