Sally Wagstaff and her very able partner, Gulliver could not be beaten in both the Group 3 and Group 2 senior classes at Grange Farm, Wittering on Saturday 10th June, taking 1st place with accurate yet speedy rounds.
It was the first time that the partnership had attempted the Group 2 fences but the seventeen fence course proved no problem and when they cleared the joker to remove a further 40 penalty seconds, Georgina Everest & Cedar had to settle for 2nd place with Venetia Kennedy & Forvever Candy taking 3rd.
The Group 3 class was a much closer result with Sally & Gulliver claiming a victory by a 0.28 penalty second margin! A determined ride by Teresa Stoner on Poirots Quest put them into second with Yvonne Fletcher and Charlottes Pride, a show-jumper who enjoyed a change of scene, claiming third.
With faults spread around the course, the Intro class was won by Grange Farm based Sue Beamish riding Eggbutt. Again, an accurate but speedy round with 40 penalty seconds removed for jumping the joker proved decisive. Second place went to Stephanie Casswell with 5 year old Conker and in third was Sharon Hamilton & Lucy who were competing in their first JumpCross competition.
Group 3 Junior proved a consolation for Georgina Everest & Cedar has they narrowly won the class from Venetia Kennedy & Forever Candy. Lauren Dolby & Red took third.
The Group 3 team competition was a tight battle between three consistent teams but in the end the Haven't Got A Clue duo of Yvonne Fletcher & Jo Naylor prevailed over The Wishful Thinkers, Cate Croll & Dawn Ross who rather wishfully were riding Brad Pitt & Orlando Bloom!!! In third were Mission Improbable, Alan Thompson & Jo Naylor.
All in all another successful day at Grange Farm with spectators not only enjoying the competition but the sunshine as well!
