JumpCross gets off to a flying start at Grange Farm despite the wind & rain

JumpCross at Grange Farm, Wittering got off to a flying start in 2009 on Saturday 28th March. Despite the wind and sharp rain showers, a good entry tackled the first course of the year, which in true Grange Farm tradition included two water crossings and combinations to test both horses and riders.

The day started with the Intro class with the first two competitors out on course battling it out for the top slot. Alex Elliott and Onyx, who were starting their second year competing at JumpCross, enjoyed the benefit of jumping a clear round and taking seconds off by jumping the joker fence, taking first place from experienced JumpCross campaigners Lauren Dolby and Red. Tracey Edwards and High Jinks II claimed third place.

The Fitz Flyers won the team challenge from the newly formed Wittering Harriers.

Holly Steels and the flying grey, Pip Pingle could not be beaten in the Group 3 Junior section despite the best efforts of Brogan Cranfield and Lawson who claimed second place ahead of Charlotte Taylor and Milly.

Laura Curtis and Sir Caffrey made a successful return to JumpCross competition winning the Group 3 Senior section, displaying a fast yet fluent clear jumping round and taking further penalty points off the final total by jumping the joker fence. Paul Brown and UFO did exactly the same but a slower time gave them second place ahead of Sarah Wynn and Storm Child.

Paul Brown and UFO went one better in the final section of the day, Group 2 Senior, claiming the top slot from JumpCross debutants, Jo Roberts and Mixed Blessing. Geoff Bridges and April took third place.
